    Good Morning Sir,

I recently purchased your new book Training Strongman In A Regular Gym.
Looking at the sample plan I have a question. When you are calculating the percentages of a particular lift is that percentage of your 1RM or is it percentage of your training max(90% of your 1RM)? Thank you for your time in answering this question.

    Thanks for buying the book!

Your 1RM should always be based off your technical max. That means the weight you can do on that lift with proper form, back doesn’t round, no hitch, etc not your absolute max meaning the most weight you can do anyhow anyway. For most people this will end up being 90% of your 1RM and that is a good rule of thumb to go off especially if you are a newer lifter that isn’t too sure what proper form is.

If the heaviest weight you did on that lift was smooth without a form breakdown though by all means use that to calculate your percentages.

    Good luck in your training!
