I want to go ahead and plug these little rod and pipe pivots from Black Widow training gear (Link), for safely practicing the viking press. They’re designed to go over the spotter catches of a power rack, and slide onto the barbell sleeves. You load up the other sleeve with your weight, and the whole thing only take a few minutes to set up. Set them up on a safety down low for t-bar rows, or kneeling chest presses. And storage is a piece of cake.
These things are fantastic. I bought two, to train viking press with both arms at once. They can work best with small plates, like 25s. But I’ve got pretty broad shoulders and you can easily make a full size plate work as well. And when I bought them, they had a deal that the second one was 50% off (two for $44). Great piece of portable gear.
