Sacramento, CA (May 24, 2022) – World’s Strongest Man announced today that American brewing
company, Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR), will be the Official Beer Partner of the 2022 SBD World’s Strongest
Man competition, happening May 24 – 29, 2022 at Capitol Mall in Sacramento, California.
The collaboration will marry the fun nature of both brands across social media, creating unique content
throughout the 2022 competition, as well as providing branded ice baths for the athletes, for quality
R&R following the days’ strenuous competition. Every day of the competition, WSM’s social channels
will post a “PBR Celebration of the Day” video of a competitor’s celebration upon completing their
event.
“We’ve found our match in Pabst,” said Rebecca Levin, VP of Media at IMG, the company that owns and
operates World’s Strongest Man and signed the deal with PBR. “The way they engage their fans with a
clear, definitive voice, is something we’ve admired for a long time. Our social media teams have been
direct messaging each other for a while now, so we’re thrilled to finally be able to bring this mutual
admiration to the competition, in a fun way.”
“The partnership between PBR and World’s Strongest Man is surprising, and I mean that in the best
sense of the word,” says Nick Reely, VP of Marketing at PBR. “I don’t think many people would
generally associate world class athletes with beer, but there is actually a lot of synergy between our
brands and our audiences.  We’re gritty, we’re passionate, we happily exist in the fringe and are okay
with not everyone understanding our attitude or approach, and we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
We plan to have a lot of fun together, through online interactions but also in-person activations.”
30 of the world’s top strongmen will face off in an epic series of events, including the first-ever Deadlift
Ladder consisting of a series of incrementally heavier bars ranging between 650 and 750 pounds and a
massive Bus Pull, where athletes will pull a brand-new Sacramento Regional Transit Bus weighing
approximately 40,000 pounds in a race against time. The annual competition will air on CBS Sports
Network in the U.S, and Channel 5 in the U.K. later this year, as well as other international broadcasters
throughout the year.
