Training with a busy schedule

There is a strongman competition coming up in about 9 weeks that I would like to participate in. I have been training for years. I’m 31 and have been lifting since 14 or so.. lifting heavy and solid for the last 6 years. Got in to strongman about 1.5 to 2 years ago..

I guess I am seeking advice on training or how to go about it..

I run a company that is in operation 7 damn days a week. I have 4 children, two of which are under the age of 2.. my job can be extremely stressful at times.

My eating is up and down to be honest and could definitely get better but it’s not horrible. I try to eat mostly organic fruits and vegetables, meat and potatoes etc..

My stats are
Height 5’10”
Weight 207 (would feel better at 195 or so)
OHP – maybe 185×2 right now
Deadlift 405×1
Box squat 315×5
Clean and press 225×3
Sandbag clean and press x2 @ 200# sandbag

Because of the high level of stress that I am constantly under my recovery inevitably takes a backseat.. it’s hard to train hard 3 days a week.

Are there any tips or advice you might have for a guy like me in my situation?

I know you are probably a very busy guy so any response is definitely appreciated..

Hi Jordan,

Sorry for the late reply I took a bit of time off for Christmas.

Considering your situation I would train 2-3x a week since you have a lot going on.

Focus on the main movements of the upcoming competition and do accessories depending on if you have time.

two of these days should be hard with the third as accessories
