Arnold Pro Strongman World Series Athletes Announced

The Arnold Classic is the heaviest Strongman contest in the world and this year it has a new name in the Arnold Pro Strongman World Series.

The Arnold Pro Strongman World Series is a new professional sports league that features the world’s best Strongmen competing around the globe for the right to compete in the Arnold Pro Strongman World Championship at the Arnold Sports Featival in Columbus, Ohio.

The Arnold Pro Strongman World Series features qualifying contests at Arnold Classic multi-sport festival in Australia, South America, Africa, Asia and Europe. In 2016, an additional qualifying event was held at the Bill Kazmaier Classic in Dallas, Texas. Additional qualifying events in 2017 will be announced at a later date.

Zydrunas Savickas of Lithuania, winner of the Arnold Strongman Classic in 2016, is among eight of the world’s best Strongman athletes who qualified for the 2017 Arnold Pro Strongman World Championships.

Others include Hafthor Bjornsson (Iceland), Krysztof Radzikowksi (Poland), Masteusz Kieliskowski (Poland), Vytautas Lalas (Lithuania), Brian Shaw (United States) and Zach Hadge (United States). All qualified through victories or high finishes at the Arnold Pro Strongman World Series qualifiers except for Hadge, who earned a spot in the Arnold Pro Strongman World Championships by winning the Arnold Amateur Strongman World Championships at the 2016 Arnold Sports Festival.

Dimitar Savatinov earned the final guaranteed spot when he won the Arnold Pro Strongman event 2016 Bill Kazmaier Classic on Dec. 3, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. Two additional spots will be awarded through points awarded at 2016 qualifying events.

All qualified through victories or high finishes at the Arnold Pro Strongman World Series qualifiers except for Hadge, who earned a spot in the Arnold Pro Strongman World Championships by winning the Arnold Amateur Strongman World Championships at the 2016 Arnold Sports Festival. Mikhail Shivlyako and Rauno Heinla earned spots in the 2017 Arnold Pro Strongman World Championships through points awarded at the qualifying contests. Jerry Pritchett is the first alternate.
